Desk Top Calendars

Here are a few of the desk top calendars I am making for craft fairs, and for gifts for family and friends.  I made them by following the same directions I use to make an Easel Card.  This way the calendars can fold nicely for packaging and gift giving, but when opened up they create a nice easel so you could place them on a desk or counter, or anywhere you would like to have a calendar in sight.
I am making them different styles and colors, but the dimensions for making them are all the same.

To make the easel I started with a piece of 4 1/4" x 11" card stock .  I scored it at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4".  When you fold on the score lines you create your easel.  My front layer where I display the calendar was placed on the small front of the first fold. The bottom of your layer will set on that part while the top of the layer stands freely.  I used Fast Fuse Adhesive to give it a good hold.

For more dimensions - my Whisper White Layer was cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" and my Designer Series Paper was cut at 5 1/4" x 4".  The inside Whisper White Layer is 5 1/4" x 4", and this is where I stamped my sentiment.  I have seen some where people add a post it not, but I liked the idea of a sentiment instead.

To get it to stay open you can use an embellishment such as a button or brad, but for the first card I used a flower that originally came with a Paper Pumpkin Kit and I had several left over and thought they would not only look nice but create the raised dimension you need. I also added some small pearls to the right side for balance.  For the second one a button worked nicely and I thought it fit the more masculine theme.

I will be packaging them in a 6" x 17" Gusseted Cellophane Bag, tying them with coordinating ribbon and adding my sentiment.  These make really nice teacher and co worker gifts and you can customize them to fit the person you area giving it too.

I did use some retired ribbon and stamps but the following current products were used:

Everybunny Easter Baskets

I love all of the colors of Easter, and making Easter Baskets is just one way to show them off.

I used the Fancy Favor Box Bigz XL Die with my Big Shot to make the boxes.  I decorated them using the Everybunny Stamp Set, and stamped both the girl and boy bunnies on a Scallop Circle cut from the Scallop #2 Bigz Die.  I colored my bunnies in with a variety of markers, added coordinating ribbon, and attached the handle using brads.  I will fill them with candy later, but just getting a jump start on the upcoming holiday.

The following were used:

Berry Blossoms Easel Card

This is one of the easel cards we will be making at this month's stamp class.  Easel cards are easy to make once you have your dimensions, and they are a nice way to send those special wishes.

To make the card I started with a piece of 4 1/4" x 11" Lucky Limeade Cardstock.  I scored it at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4".  The piece of Calypso Coral for the front of the card measures 4" x 5 1/4" , and then another piece of Berry Blossom Designer Series Paper cut at 3 3/4" x 5" was layered on top.  I dressed this up with some die cut butterflies, some pretty ribbon and a sentiment.

To get your easel card to stay open you can use an embellishment such as a button or brad, but for this card I just cut and punched three pieces of cardstock.  These pieces were layered on a piece of Whisper White cardstock which was placed on the inside of the card.  All you need is to add something to create depth so the front of your card rest against it to stand up.   I posted a side view of the card because this helps you visualize how the scored card folds.  Let me know if you have any questions.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Lucky Limeade #122926, Calypso Coral #122925, Wisteria Wonder #122911, Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper:  Berry Blossom #122350
Stamp Set:  Thank you Kindly #111700
Ink:  Calypso Coral #122939
Ribbon:  Whisper White Organza #114319, Hemp Twine #100982
Punches:  Scallop Oval #119856, Eyelet Border #119853, Scallop Edge Border #119882, Corner #119871
Accessories:  Crop-a-Dile 108362, Big Shot #113439, Beautiful Wings Embosslits #118138

Easel Card

I saw many different ways to make Easel Cards, but I wanted mine to fit in a standard envelope so I changed some of the dimensions and wanted to share it with you. To start I took a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock and cut it in half to make it 4 1/4" x 11". I then took an inch off of the length to make it 4 1/4" x 10". Next I scored the cardstock at 2 1/2" and 5" and went over my score lines with my bone folder to give it a good crease.

Next I made my card front and it measures 4 1/4" x 5" for the white cardstock base, and 4" x 4 3/4" for the Pretty In Pink Layer. I ran my Pretty in Pink through my Big Shot using the Background#1 Texturz Plate to give it a nice impression, punched my birds, added a ribbon and a sentiment. Now when placing the card front on the base you only add adhesive to the area up to the first 2 1/2" score line. Now to make the card stand up like an easel, I added a Basic Gray Corduroy Button to my bottom layer (the 10" piece of cardstock) at the 2 1/2" mark. Next bend your card front at the 2 1/2" score line forward and tuck it behind your embellishment and you have your easel card. I stamped some vines from the Cheep Talk stamp set to the cardstock, and placed a few pink hearts in the middle to finish the look.

I hope that makes sense. Once you start working on it and you see how the paper folds it all comes together. But feel free to leave comments or e-mail me if you have any questions.

To make this card I used the following:
Cardstock: Pretty in Pink #100459, Going Gray #108588, Whisper White #100730
