Another Sailing Home Card

Can you tell that I really like the Sailing Home Bundle.  I love it for not only masculine cards, but I think it is also great for graduation, thank you, retirement, and birthday cards.  The Designer Series Paper that coordinates with the suite makes for a nice layer and in addition to the products I used for this card the suite also comes with a 3D Embossing Folder, a Memories & More Card Pack, Night of Navy Baker's Twine, and some really cute Sail Away Trinkets.

All of these products can be seen on page 145 of the Annual Catalog.

Blue Ribbon Graduation

The Blue Ribbon Stamp Set is just the ticket for that special graduation card.

I paired my stamped images up with some Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise Card Stock and a piece of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.  I got the color scheme by coordinating my card stock with the colors in the designer paper.  One of the reasons I love Stampin' Up! products - all of the coordinating accessories.

I inked my scalloped ribbon using Old Olive Ink, and inked the Congrats in Tempting Turquoise. I cut the bottom of this out with my Paper Snips, and was able to punch the top piece using my 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch.  The trick to doing this is to cut around the two bottom scallops on both sides, and the ribbon pieces at the bottom.  You can then slip this into your punch pulling the banner pieces up and through so they don't get punched.  This saves you a bit of time, but if you don't have the punch it doesn't take that long to cut out.

I also added some Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon under my image for a bit more embellishment.

The following were used:
Card Stock: Old Olive #100702, Tempting Turquoise #102067
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Taffy #133693
Ink: Old Olive #126953, Tempting Turquoise #126952
Stamp Set:  Blue Ribbon #131964 w or #125981 c
Punch:  2 3/8" Scallop Circle #118874
Ribbon:  Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta #119256

Bravo

Just in time for Graduation Cards, the Bravo Stamp Set has great sentiments to make any graduate happy and proud.  What I like even more about it is that it is a Photopolymer Stamp Set so it is really easy to get perfect placement every time.

My card base of Whisper White Card Stock was layered with a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Moonlight Paper Stack.  I cut the ends to make it look like a banner, and then added some new Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.  For additional dimension I also cut a piece of Hello Honey Card Stock and punched out the tiny star which is from the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I placed this on with a dimensional.

I stamped my sentiment with Basic Gray Ink, and then also added some additional sentiments from the Bravo Stamp Set for the inside of the card.

The following were used:
Card Stock:  Whisper White #100730, Hello Honey #133678
Designer Series Paper: Moonlight Paper Stack #133701

Watercolor Wonder Note Cards

Need a quick card, check out the Water Wonder Designer Note Cards & Envelopes in the Occasions Catalog.  You get 20 printed cards on water color paper - 4 each of 5 designs along with 20 Ivory Envelopes.  I made 2 graduation cards and 1 thank you card using 3 of the designs.  Just add your own sentiment and stamps to fit the occasion and you have beautiful cards in a snap.

To this card I stamped images from the Pure Gumption Stamp Set.  The Graduation Hat was cut out using my Paper Snips.  The yellow background and oval is the design of the note card.

This card was embellished with some Thick Baker's Twine and stamped with the Oh, Hello Stamp Set.  The images on the bottom are already on the note card - how easy is that.

This not card has the pretty green watercolor front.  I added images from the Pomp & Circumstances Stamp Set.  The diploma and hat were cut out with my Paper Snips.

The following were used:
Note Cards:  Watercolor Wonder #133362 (Occasions Catalog)
Stamp Sets: Pure Gumption #132067 w or #126317 c (Retiring), Oh Hello #131931 w or #130733 c (Retiring), Pomp & Circumstance #134165 w or #134168 (Occasions Catalog)

For the graduate

Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper adds a nice touch to my graduation card.  The paper also coordinates with the This and That products on page 128-129 of the Annual Catalog.

My card base is Pool Party Card Stock that I layered with a piece of Calypso Coral Card Stock and Epic Day This and That DSP.  I also embossed the bottom of the card using my Big Shot and a Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder.   My graduation sentiment was stamped on using Crumb Cake Ink.

Tip - The Designer Series Paper Packs have the names of coordinating Card Stock listed on the back making it much easier to help you select your colors.

The following were used:

Really Good Greetings

One of my favorite things to look for in the new catalog is new sentiments.  I like the font and size of the sayings in Really Good Greetings.  Each one is for a really different occasion too.

My card base is Summer Starfruit Card Stock with a layer of Island Indigo and Soho Subway Designer Series Paper.  I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and then cut it out using a Labels Collection Framelit.  I added a larger Framelit cut in Summer Starfruit and placed it behind my sentiment which I placed on with dimensionals, leaving room for my ribbon which I made by cutting two pieces of Island Indigo Card Stock  and snipping the ends.

For added dimension I also embossed my Summer Starfruit layer with the Argyle Embossing Folder.

The following were used:
Card Stock:  Summer Starfruit #126839, Island Indigo #122923, Very Vanilla #101650
Designer Series Paper:  Soho Subway #13014
Ink:  Island Indigo #126986
Stamp Set:  Really Good Greetings #130330 w or #130333

More than one way to use a design!

Original card I created

Rachel's card

The top card is one I made about a month ago and was seen by a young lady at my stamp class today.  She needed a graduation card, and liked the colors of my original card.  I didn't have any of the Designer Series Paper that was used for the top card, but a piece of the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper was close enough.  After I cut what she needed she created her graduation card.

So, credit for today's post goes to Rachel.  This was her first time at my class and I love her creativity and the card she designed.  It just goes to show how one layout can be used over and over again to create many different cards, and how we can all keep learning from one another.

Rachel used the following:
Cardstock:  Night of Navy #100867, Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper:  Summer Smooches #125409
Ink:  Lucky Limeade #126984
Stamp Sets:  Papillon Potpourri #123757 wood or #123759 clear, Word Play #120308 wood or #120651 clear
Punches:  Large Oval #119855, Elegant Butterfly #127526
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Labels Collection Framelits #125598

Graduation Card using the Brick Technique

Thanks to Stampin' Up! demonstrator Aimee Cretsinger who was the inspiration for today's card.  It makes a great graduation card, and was easy to make using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

To my Cajun Craze cardbase, I added a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock that was first scored in random 1/4" increments, and then sponged with Cajun Craze and Early Espresso ink.  I then added more to the background by stamping images from the soon to be retired Stamp Set, Extreme Elements.  The center sentiment is from the Word Play Stamp Set, a great set that can be used for 12 different occasions.

In person you can really see the scored lines which give the illusion of brick.  To further that design, I cut out random scored pieces and the also scored the Cajun Craze pieces that show through.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Cajun Craze #119684, Very Vanilla #101650
Ink:  Cajun Craze #119671, Early Espresso #119670
Stamp Sets:  Extreme Elements #115181 (retiring 5/31), Word Play #120308 wood or #120651 clear
Tools:  Simply Scored Scoring Tool #122334, Stamping Sponges #101610

Nautical Graduation Wishes

A few nautical punches seemed to be just what I needed to go with the graduation sentiments and wishes.  They give the sense of adventure, and after all, isn't life after graduation all about the adventures ahead!

I started with Crumb Cake Cardstock and added a layer of Chocolate Chip and Whisper White.  I stamped my wishes with Chocolate Chip ink, and then punched my Nautical Expedition DSP with the Postage Stamp Punch, both from the Summer Mini Catalog.  I also punched an additional piece of the DSP to be placed under my Happy Graduation.

For today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Crumb Cake #120953, Chocolate Chip #102128, Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper:  Nautical Expedition #1223443
Stamp Sets:  Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370, Word Play #120308 wood or #120651 clear #120651

Happy Graduation

Sorry for the wording on the side. Don't know what happened!

Over the weekend we celebrated our son's girlfriends college graduation. I knew I wanted to get her a nice pair of earrings, and the Matchbox Die is the right size box for small items and the earrings fit perfectly. Matching the card with the box gives your gift that extra special look and it shows that you put thought into making it. I love being able to make handmade cards and presents, and Stampin' Up! makes it easy with their matching cardstock, ink, and accessories.
To make the card:
Cardstock: Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper: Cottage Wall #115671
Ink: Rich Razzleberry #115658

Punch: Scallop Square #112082
Accessories: Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die #118138 (Occasions Mini - will be carried over in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog)
Embellishments: Dimensionals #104430

For the box:

Punch Cards

One of my customers asked if I could make cards using the two punches she recently purchased - the Curly Label Punch and Large Oval Punch and this is what I came up with.

The first card uses the Curly Label and Butterfly Punch. The only stamp set was Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment. I love the colors pink and brown together, so I used Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip cardstock for the Curly Label punch, some scrap pieces of Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper for the butterflies (from the Occasions Mini) and layered all of this onto Very Vanilla cardstock, added some Chocolate Chip ribbon to finish the card front which I then placed onto my card base using Kraft cardstock.
The second card uses the Large Oval, Large Star, Star, Word Window, and Modern Label Punch. The only stamp set was Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment. I used Bashful Blue cardstock for the base of the card, Going Gray for the layer, Ballet Blue and Basic Gray for the oval punches, and mixed the colors for the star and word punches. So with a little bit of imagination you can make cards only using your punches.
Let me know what you think, and if you come up with some creative punch cards of your own I would love to see them.

For the first card I used the following:
Cardstock: Kraft #102125, Pretty in Pink #100459, Chocolate Chip #102129, Very Vanilla #101650
Designer Series Paper: Sending Love Specialty (Occasions Mini) retired
Ribbon: Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain #111367
Punches: Curly Label #112208, Butterfly #116629
Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370
Ink: Chocolate Chip #100908
For the second card:
Cardstock: Bashful Blue #105120, Basic Gray #108588 (neutral pack), Basic Gray #108692, Ballet Blue #100613
Punches: Large Oval #107305, Word Window #105090, Modern Label #116630, Large Star #110710, Star #109045
Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370
Ink: Basic Gray #109120

Happy Graduation

Graduation time is here and in the new Summer Mini Catalog Stampin' Up has some great individual stamps for sale, like the Happy Grad stamp used in today's card.

I love how bold the greeting is and I love the wording on it too. It sells for only $8.95 and is a stamp that I know I will keep in my collection for a long time since it will never go out of style. I used only one color of ink for my saying, but if you wanted to add more color or make the Happy Graduation stand out even a little more you could use a Stampin' Up marker, dauber, or sponge to color over a particular word. The Square Lattice Embossing Folder made a nice impression on the base of the card and my favorite 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon added a nice accent.
If you never used this ribbon you will be surprised to find out how soft it is. I thought at first it would add too much bulk to my cards but it doesn't and it has become my favorite ribbon of all. It currently comes in four colors and I hope when the new catalog comes out in July they have even more. To finish the card I punched a small star and used a dimensional to make it pop up.

This is one of the cards we will be making next Tuesday at my Summer Mini Card Class, and if you would like to join us just drop me an e-mail, or feel free to call if you have any questions. And don't forget my online store is open 24 hours a day and is just a click away.

Products used to make this card:
Cardstock: Kraft #102015, Whisper White #100730, Chocolate Chip #102128

Punches: Star #109045, Corner Rounder #109047
Accessories: Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder #119976 (Summer Mini)
