Love & Laughter

Today is the last day to purchase the Love & Laughter Stamp Set, or any of the products from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The sale period for those items ends today.  Some of the products may be carried over into the New Catalog when it comes out June 1st, but since I don't know for sure what products may still be available then, if there is anything you really wanted you better get it today.

Today's wedding card uses a base of Whisper White cardstock, followed by a layer of Island Indigo and Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper, also from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I centered my cake shaped wedding sentiment in the middle by cutting out two Labels Collection Framelits.  What is so nice about the Framelits is that I was able to stamp my image first onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and then take the Framelits that best fit the image.  It was easy to then cut out, getting it placed just where I wanted it.  I then cut another larger Framelits using a piece of Island Indigo cardstock to make the images stand out.  Some Whisper White Satin 5/8" Satin Ribbon was tied at the top of the layers and an additional sentiment was placed at the top.

Another note - all of the satin ribbon featured in the current Idea Book and Catalog will all be retiring May 31st.  The ribbon, and all retiring accessories are available only while supplies last.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Whisper White #100730, Island Indigo #122923

Sending Love and Sympathy

I am so glad the Love & Sympathy stamp set is not retiring.  Even though I hate having to send sympathy cards, having this set makes it a bit easier.  I love the simplicity, and softness of the flower stamp, and the sentiments say just the right thing.

My card base is Old Olive cardstock, with an added layer of Concord Crush and  Wisteria Wonder Designer Series Paper from the 2011-13 In Color Paper Stack.  I stamped my images on Whisper White cardstock using Old Olive ink and once again layered this onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  When I had all of the layers together I ran them through my Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Old Olive #100702, Concord Crush #119792, Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper:  2011-13 In Color Paper Stacks #122384

Packed for Dad

Packed for Dad is an a' la carte stamp set in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  It is great for masculine birthday cards, and would be great for Father's Day too.  All of the products in the Occasions Mini Catalog can be ordered until April 30th.

My card base is Very Vanilla cardstock, with added layers of Soft Suede cardstock, and a piece of Well Worn Designer Series Paper.  I stamped the large image onto another piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, which was placed onto another piece of Soft Suede.  I colored in just a few of the images to make them stand out, and added some Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon along with my stamped sentiment.

Just change the "on your Birthday" sentiment to Happy Father's Day and you have another use for this stamp.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla #101650, Soft Suede #115318
Designer Series Paper:  Well Worn #122359

Big Top Birthday

Let's celebrate a birthday with help from Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper.  I love the bold colors and designs of all of the papers in this pack, and especially like the colors for use with summer birthdays.

My card base is Real Red cardstock, with a layer of Whisper White, and then a layer of the Designer Paper.  Using Real Red Ink, I stamped the let's celebrate on a Whisper White oval that was cut with the Big Shot and the Ovals Die.  Three silver brads were placed on the oval for added embellishment, and I stamped on your birthday in the bottom in Basic Black ink.  A simple and quick card to make too!

Attic Boutique for a nostalgic Mother's Day Card

Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper is full of eclectic  designs that are made to remind you of days treasure hunting in the attic, or shopping at a quaint boutique.  I liked the paper so much, that I didn't want to add a lot more to my card, but still wanted it to be soft and feminine for mom. This pretty paper is only available for a few more days since it is in the Occasions Mini Catalog, which expires April 30th.

My card base of Soft Suede cardstock was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I then added a piece of Very Vanilla 1/2" Seam Binding before adding my cut piece of Attic Boutique paper.  The paper was cut with my Big Shot and one of the Framelits Label Collection Dies.  A Pretty in Pink flower was punched with the Boho Blossom Punch, and accented with a neutral brad.  I also embossed my stamped sentiment, and sponged some Soft Suede ink to the edges for added dimension.

This is one of the cards I offered at this week's stamp class.  Some of the girls added an additional Framelits Label in Pretty in Pink behind their Designer Paper.  This offered a nice alternative to those wanting more color on their card.  So easy to change things up a bit with the 6 sizes of Labels Collection Framelits Dies to choose from.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Soft Suede #115318, Very Vanilla #101650
Designer Series Paper:  Attic Boutique #125407 (Occasions Mini)

Sweet Shop Birthday

"Bring on the Cake", what an appropriate sentiment to pair with the Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper.  This paper coordinates with all five 2011-2013 In Colors, and is available until the end of April.

My card base is Soft Suede cardstock, and I added a layer of Calypso Coral with rounded edges, a strip of the Designer Paper, some Soft Suede Ribbon, and then the larger piece of Designer Paper .  To coordinate with the cupcakes in the paper, I added the larger cupcake.  Using the Create a Cupcake stamp set I stamped the bottom part of the cupcake in Calypso Coral ink and punched it out with the Cupcake Builder Punch, and the icing was punched out with Pool Party cardstock and layered with Crystal Effects to add a dimensional, lacquered look.  To highlight the cupcake, I cut two Label Framelits to layer over the Designer Paper.   I also added the appropriate bring on the cake sentiment to the bottom, and finished off the cupcake by adding a cherry the top!

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Soft Suede #115318, Calypso Coral #122925, Whisper White #100730, Pool Party #122924

Pretty in Pink Paper Doily

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and I really liked the delicate design of the Paper Doily for a special card for mom.

My card base is Pretty in Pink, and for dimension I took an extra small layer of Pretty in Pink and embossed it with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I added two cut strips of Whisper White, and a punched circle of Old Olive to go behind my Paper Doily which was cut with a piece of Pretty in Pink Designer Series Paper from the Subtles Collection.  Another piece of Whisper White was punched with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and added to the center of the Doily.  To finish the card I added a Twitterpated Designer Button and my stamped sentiment.

This is another card that will be prepared for my monthly stamp class next week.  I think the ladies will like experimenting with the new Paper Doily Sizzlits Die and love how pretty it is in person.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Pretty in Pink #100459, Old Olive #100702, Whisper White #100730

Petite Purse Die

For these three purses I used current Designer Series Paper:
Beyond the Garden, Mocha Morning, and Flirtatious Specialty

The purse easily fits 5 Hershey Miniatures

42 purses made in one afternoon
Oh, I'm having so much fun making cute little purses with the new Petite Purse Die.  It is available for the month of April, and then won't be available again until the new catalog comes out June 1st.  It is one of the products in the Summer Smooches Promotion.  You can see this Die and the other items available by going to my online store or clicking on the Summer Smooches link in the left hand column.

To make the die just select your favorite Designer Series Paper or cardstock and cut it to measure 8" x 5 1/2".  The top three purses were made with current Designer Papers, and the others were made with a combination of current and retired papers.  I embellished using a variety of buttons and brads, and two small pieces of Sticky Strip were all that was needed to keep the purse together.  As you can see in the second picture, they can hold 5 Hershey Miniatures, or you can fill the purse with jewelery, money, or other small trinket or type of candy.

I made all of the purses you see here, a total of 42, in just one afternoon.  You can cut two purses at a time, and because I didn't add any other pieces to embellish the purse, except the button or brad, they went together really quickly.  I plan on selling them at a craft fair this Saturday, and they would be nice for Mother's Day, Birthday, Thank You, Get Well, and so much more.  A sentiment can be quickly stamped and punched and placed on the purse for further personalization.

Besides the variety of Designer Series Paper, buttons, and brads I used the following:
Big Shot #113439, Petite Purse Die #125606 (Summer Smooches), Standard Premium Crease Pad #113476, Sticky Strip #104294, Mat Pack #105826, Paper-Piercing Tool #116631

Bordering on Romance

There are only a few more weeks to purchase items in the Occasions Mini Catalog, like the Bordering on Romance Stamp Set used for today's card.  This set also coordinates with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies available in the Occasions Mini Catalog too.

My card base of Pear Pizzazz cardstock was layered with a piece of Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and then embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder.  Before I placed my stamped layer, I added a scrunched piece of Basic Gray Satin Ribbon.  To keep the ribbon in place I used Sticky Strip for a good hold.  My flower was inked in Pear Pizzazz ink and I colored in just a few of the images with a Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride marker.  Some Basic Pearls added a bit of embellishment to the rest of the image.

This is one of the cards being offered at my April stamp class, and I will let the ladies decide what type of sentimnent they want to us.  I'm thinking it would be nice for Mother's Day, but would work for so many occasions.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Pear Pizzazz #119795, Whisper White #100730, Basic Gray #121044
Designer Series Paper:  Twitterpated #125406 (Occasions Mini)

Metal Artwork

Vase of Metal Artwork

Close up of cut and embossed metal

I wanted to add something pretty to the Easter flowers I was giving to my mom this year, so I added a plant stake that I adorned with metal artwork.  Once I got started I thought why not make more.  So I got busy and made enough to fill a large vase.  I will sell some at upcoming craft fairs, but also plan on using them in my potted plants for decoration, and also to hold up some of my larger blooms.

I purchased roof flashing at Home Depot, and cut it using various Dies and my Big Shot.  I then also embossed the metal with embossing folders, and used a glue gun to attach everything to the plant stake.  The Big Shot cuts through the metal flashing just like paper, and the embossing folders added a really nice look.  So easy and fun to make.

The following Stampin' Up! products were used:
Big Shot #113439, Leaves #2 Original Die #112459, Flower Folds Bigz XL Die #115970, Top Note Bigz Die #113463, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die #114507, Frame, Oval Scallop Bigz Die #114521, Scallop Circle Bigz Die #113468, Lattice Bigz Die #115958, Fun Flowers Bigz L Die #121812, Ovals Original Die #114525

Another Designer Cuts Card

I really love the Designer Cuts Cards and Evelopes Set.  I posted a card a few days ago using one of the laser cut images, and today I wanted to show you a card made with the Heart image.

The card base is Very Vanilla, and as you can see the laser cut image is really delicate and doesn't need a lot of extra embellishment.  To add some color, I cut a piece of Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (from the now retired Sale-a-bration products) with a Heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits Die.  This was placed behind the image and you can see how nicely the color shows thru.  For an added bonus, when you open the card, the Heart that is on the inside adds a nice touch.  I cut a few butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, and added some pearls for a bit of embellishment.  Some Pool Party Baker's Twine was added to the top of the heart, along with a Twitterpated Designer Button.

For additional color, I sponged some Pool Party ink around the edges on the front of the card.  It adds just a touch of color, and blends in really nice with my Designer Series Paper.  Now, instead of using one of the Blushing Bride envelopes that comes with the Set, I will use a Very Vanilla envelope instead.

Again, these cards are so easy to make, and the possibilities are endless for what you can use them for.

The following were used:
Card & Envelope Set:  Designer Cuts #125414 (Occasions Mini)
Designer Series Paper:  Everyday Enchantment (retired from Sale-a-bration)
Embellishments:  Basic Pearls #119247, Twitterpated Designer Buttons #125579 (Occasions Mini)
Ribbon:  Pool Party Baker's Twine #125574 (Occasions Mini)
Accessories:  Big Shot #113439, Beautiful Wings Embosslits #118138, Stamping Sponge #101610, Hearts Collection Framelits Dies #125599 (Occasions Mini)

Flower Fest and it sure smells yummy!

Want to give mom a nice surprise when she opens her card, add some Scented Stampin' Emboss Powder to your project and give her a nice welcome scent when she opens it up.
To make the card I started with Calypso Coral cardstock that was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I added a small layer of Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper, and a small piece of Calypso Coral 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon.

For the large flower, I first stamped the image using Versa Mark Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Next I added Clear Emboss Powder and heated the image.  I then sponged some Daffodil Delight ink over the center of the flower, and then added Calypso Coral ink to the rest of the image.  As you can see, the embossed areas resisted the ink.  To add the Vanilla Scented Emboss Powder, I reinked the flower again with my Versa Mark Ink, and then applied the Vanilla Emboss Powder and reheated the flower.  An In-Color Calypso Coral Designer Printed Brad was placed in the center for added embellishment.

Ah - what a nice aroma.  The scented powders come in Vanilla, Melon, and Cherry, and are available in the Occasions Mini Catalog until the end of April.  I don't know if they will be carried over into the new catalog, so if you would like to add a nice surprise to your cards or projects, don't forget to order them soon.

Stamp Class Set Up

The tables where the ladies sit to make their cards.  The front right section is where I teach the technique of the month. Envelopes are placed on this table as well.

Each stamper is provided their own Grid Paper, and I provide the Stampin' Scrub, dimensionals, glue dots, scissors, and any necessary tools.  They bring their own snail adhesive.

Card set up with all necessary paper, stamp sets, and punches.

Close up view of some of my selections.

Table with ink, markers, and embellishments.  I also place any treat items they can select on this table as well.

Big Shot Table

I thought I would show how I set up for my monthly stamp classes.  Everyone has their own way of doing it, but this seems to work for the ladies.  Each month I prepare between 15-20 cards.  On two tables I have all of the materials precut and laid out in front of the sample.  The ink, markers, and embellishments are on another table, and the ribbons, adhesives, scissors, and tools are on the table where the ladies sit.  I also have a separate table with all of the Big Shot items.

When I am teaching a technique or we are doing a card fold that requires a tutorial, I set that up at the front of the one table, this way everyone can see what I am doing, but at the same time I am not in the way of those who choose not to do that particular technique of the month.

I charge the ladies $1.50 per project made, and they can make as many cards as them want.   The only item I ask them to bring is their adhesive, such as snail, however, I provide glue dots, dimensionals, sticky strip, and any other tool needed.  Envelopes are provided too.

My classes are run usually the third week of the month on a Monday evening at 6 PM, and a Wednesday morning at 10 AM.  I love getting together monthly sharing ideas and new products.  Most of the ladies have been coming for awhile and don't need a lot of direction or help from me.  However, when there is a new stamper I love showing them different techniques, and sharing my love of stamping with them.   We all learn from one another, and this group inspires me to come up with new ideas each month.

Thank you to any Stampin' Up! demonstrator whose sample I have cased for my classes.  I always tell the ladies if the idea is not an original of mine, and they know how wonderful all of you are for sharing your creativity with all of us.

I would love to hear any comments or suggestions how any of you do your classes, and if any of my ladies are reading this, I also would love to hear from you about any changes you think need to be made.  I am always looking for ways to make the class better and appreciate any ideas you would like to share.

Quick cards with Designer Cuts

The Designer Cuts Cards & Envelopes Set really makes it easy to create elegant cards in only a few minutes.  The laser-cut cards which come in two designs, are great for so many occasions, and as you can see by today's design they are not only for Valentine's Day or weddings.  The card I made could be used for many occasions, and that is why I left it blank and will add a sentiment later.  I will be offering this card as one of the choices at my April Stamp Class, and the ladies can decide what occasion they want to use it for.  Maybe Mother's Day, a birthday, thank you, thinking of you, who knows.

To the laser-cut card I added a strip of Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper that was punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch, and a layer of Soft Suece cardstock to the back.  A few basic pearls were also added, and that is it.  Just change your colors and you have a whole different card and look.

If you like these cards, you have until the end of April to place your order.  They are in the Occasions Mini Catalog which expires April 30th.  I plan on stocking up on a few packs so I always have an elegant quick card on hand.
