You're How Old?

What an appropriate card to send to anyone for their birthday, no matter how young or old.  These words sum up many birthday feelings all in one large birthday stamp.

To my Real Red card base I added a strip of Island Indigo Cardstock and Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.  I stamped my sentiment on Whisper White cardstock and cut it out with my Big Shot using a Labels Collections Framelit. Before I placed this on my card with dimensionals, I cut two strips of Lucky Limeade cardstock using the Bitty Banners Framelits and cut another Real Red Labels Framelit, this one larger than the Whisper White layer.  I also embossed the cut red embosslit for added dimension.  I like the way it turned out, but I think if I made this card again, I would also place my Real Red Framelit on with dimensionals to make it stand out a bit more.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Real Red #102482, Island Indigo #122923, Lucky Limeade #122926, Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper:  Summer Smooches #125409
Ink:  Real Red #126949

Nature's Pace Framed

A lot of sponging!  That is how I created my framed matte, and the color on my Very Vanilla cardstock.

My Vanilla Vanilla cardstock was sponged all around the edges using Baja Breeze and Lucky Limeade cardstock.  I then stamped my flowers with Lucky Limeade ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with a Labels Collection Framelit.  To get the Baja Breeze frame around the flowers, I cut a smaller Framelit and used it as a matte, and then sponged my ink around the edges of the smaller framelit.  I placed this on using dimensionals to help it stand out.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla #101650
Ink:  Baja Breeze #126960, Lucky Limeade #126984
Stamp Sets:  Nature's Pace #122660 wood or #122662 clear, Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370 wood or #127802 clear
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Labels Collections Framelits #125598, Stamping Sponges #101610, Dimensionals #104430

Serene Thank You

I debated if I wanted to purchase the new butterfly punch because I already had the one that just retired.  Well, I bought it and I am glad I did.  Now, I did like the retired one, but this one is so much more elegant.  So, how fitting is it that Stampin' Up named it the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

A lot of Calypso Coral adorns this card - the cardstock, Designer Series Paper, ink and ribbon.  Just a bit of Very Vanilla cardsock for the layering and sentiment.

To create the circle opening for the stamped image, I punched a 1 3/4" circle in the Designer Series Paper, positioned it on the Very Vanilla cardstock, and then stamped my image.  My Calypso Coral Bakers Twine was wrapped around the layers and I just used a piece of Scotch Tape to hold it in the back.  I added some pearls to my butterfly, and my sentiment was cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits and my Big Shot.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Calypso Coral #122876, Very Vanilla #101650
Designer Series Paper:  2011-13 In Color Paper Stack #122384
Ink:  Calypso Coral #126983
Stamp Sets:  Serene Silhouettes #127322 wood or #127324 clear, Kindness Matters #122900 wood or #122902 clear
Ribbon:  Calypso Coral Baker's Twine #12553
Punches:  Elegant Butterfly #127526, 1 3/4" Circle #119850
Embellishment:  Basic Pearls #119247
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Bitty Banners Framelits #129267

It's a girl!

I made this card to celebrate the birth of my great-niece who I will see for the first time in a few weeks at a family wedding.  It is so wonderful to be welcoming another little girl into the family.

My card base of Pink Pirouette cardstock was layered with Pretty in Pink and Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the baby hands and saying using Crumb Cake ink, and then embossed the white layer using my new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I added a Pretty in Pink button and tied a bow using Whisper White Baker's Twine.  I thought the card needed just a bit more, so I punched two Pretty in Pink hearts.

I really like the versatility of the Baby Prints stamp set.  It is great for making cards, but also would be perfect for preserving your special memories in a scrapbook, or for making invitations.

I used the following:
Cardstock:  Pink Pirouette #111351, Pretty in Pink #100459, Whisper White #100730
Stamp Set:  Baby Prints #125470 wood or #125472 clear
Ink:  Crumb Cake #126975
Punch:  Small Heart #117193
Ribbon:  Whisper White Baker's Twine #124262
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder #127751
Embellishment:  Subtles Designer Button #119745

A Fitting Occasion

Wrap it up and send some birthday wishes to that special someone.

I like all of the choices in my new stamp set, A Fitting Occasion.  To create my birthday card, I added the birthday circle and then stamped my party hat inside.  This set also coordinates with so many of my punches, and as you can see I used three of them today.  To wrap it all up, I added So Saffron ribbon.  A quick and fun card to make, and if you needed it to be a masculine card, just change your colors.

I used the following:
Cardstock:  Wisteria Wonder #122922, So Saffron #105118
Designer Series Paper:  2011-13 Paper Stack #122384
Ink:  Wisteria Wonder #126985
Stamp Set:  A Fitting Occasion #127047 wood or #127049 clear
Punches:  Curly Label #119851, Modern Label #119849, 1" Circle #119868
Ribbon:  So Saffron 3/8" Taffeta #122982

More than one way to use a design!

Original card I created

Rachel's card

The top card is one I made about a month ago and was seen by a young lady at my stamp class today.  She needed a graduation card, and liked the colors of my original card.  I didn't have any of the Designer Series Paper that was used for the top card, but a piece of the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper was close enough.  After I cut what she needed she created her graduation card.

So, credit for today's post goes to Rachel.  This was her first time at my class and I love her creativity and the card she designed.  It just goes to show how one layout can be used over and over again to create many different cards, and how we can all keep learning from one another.

Rachel used the following:
Cardstock:  Night of Navy #100867, Whisper White #100730
Designer Series Paper:  Summer Smooches #125409
Ink:  Lucky Limeade #126984
Stamp Sets:  Papillon Potpourri #123757 wood or #123759 clear, Word Play #120308 wood or #120651 clear
Punches:  Large Oval #119855, Elegant Butterfly #127526
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Labels Collection Framelits #125598

A touch of nostagia!

There was something about this Designer Series Paper that reminded me of days long ago.  So, I thought it was appropriate for a birthday card that I made for a friend who is celebrating his 60th birthday.

My card base is Very Vanilla cardstock, with a layer of Riding Hood Red and Fan Fair Designer Series Paper.  A piece of Island Indigo Designer Paper was placed on and cut to give the appearance of ribbon, and a Natural Designer Button was added for embellishment, while still keeping the card masculine.  I also sponged some Island Indigo ink to my stamped and punched sentiment, and placed it on with dimensionals.

Products used:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla #101650, Riding Hood Red #111348
Designer Series Paper:  Fan Fair #126918, 2011-13 In Color Designer Paper Stack #122384
Stamp Set:  Friendly Phrases #126149 wood or #126151 clear

Another Masculine Birthday Card

I needed one more masculine birthday card, and thought these colors and images did the trick.

My Chocolate Chip cardstock was punched on the bottom corners with the 3/16" Corner Punch for a different look, and also embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I added some Cajun Craze cardstock under my layer of Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper, and then cut the tag using the Two Tags Bigz Die.  The clock images were stamped with Cajun Craze and Chocolate Chip Ink.  The Wish Big sentiment was placed on using dimensionals.

For some reason masculine birthday cards are always in demand at my monthly stamp classes.   Hopefully the ladies like this design.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Chocolate Chip #102128, Cajun Craze #119684, Crumb Cake #120953, Very Vanilla #101650
Ink:  Chocolate Chip #126979, Cajun Craze #126965
Stamp Sets:  Clockworks #126260 wood or #126262 clear, Word Play #120308 wood or #120651 clear
Punches:  3/16" Corner #119871, 1 3/4" Circle #119850

Above & Beyond Thank You

Detailed edging created with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, Paper-Piercing Tool, and Pierce Mat
I thought my new Elegant Butterfly punch went so well with my above & beyond sentiment.  It just seemed to be the right finishing touch for my thank you card.

Not every card has to have a lot of layers, and I liked the addition of just a small piece of ribbon, designer paper, and punched cardstock to create my card front.  Along with the stamped tiny flowers and sentiment, I knew the card needed just a bit more, so in addition to my punched butterfly, I added some embellishment to the side edge of the card by piercing holes using the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack.  This new tool comes with 3 templates and it also coordinates with punches. edgelits, and framelits.  But, as you can see on my card, I used it by itself, and if you don't have the coordinating products it still adds a nice touch to your project.

The inside sentiment says  ...that's where you always seem to go!  thanks so much.  It is from the One in a Million stamp set, which gives you sayings not only for the front of the card, but the inside too.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Baja Breeze #111352, Summer Starfruit #126839
Designer Series Paper:  Patio Party #126916
Ink:  Midnight Muse #126860
Stamp Sets:  One in a Million #126380 wood or #126382 clear, Printed Petals #116679 wood or #120444 clear
Ribbon:  Primrose Petals 3/8" Stitched Satin #126844
Punches:  Elegant Butterfly #127526, Scallop Edge Border #119882
Tools:  Essentials Paper Piercing Pack #126187, Stampin' Pierce Mat #126199, Paper Piercing Tool #126189

Medallions and Floral Frames

I used a combination of the Daydream Medallions Stamps and Floral Frames Framelits to create my wedding card.  It is so much fun experimenting with my new stamping products!

Using one of the smaller Daydream Medallion Stamps, my cardbase of Midnight Muse cardstock was stamped with Versa Mark ink and then heat embossed using White Embossing Powder to create my background.  My other medallions were stamped using Midnight Muse ink, and then cut out with two of the Floral Frames Framelits, and placed onto the card using dimensionals.

I also embossed the larger medallion with the new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder for extra embellishment.  I get such great ink coverage with my new stamp pads.  If you haven't tried them yet, I think you will be really surprised and pleased at how crisp and clear your image is, and they only require a little tap, tap to get the ink on the stamp.

I used the following:
Cardstock:  Midnight Muse #126843, Whisper White #100730
Ink:  Midnight Muse #126860, Versa Mark # 102283
Stamp Sets:  Daydream Medallions #126465 wood or #126467 clear, Petite Pairs #122495 wood or #122497 clear
Tools:  Heat Tool #129053, White Embossing Powder #109132, Big Shot #113439, Floral Frames Framelits #127012, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder #127751
Adhesive:  Dimensionals #104430, Snail #104332

Birthday Presents

Turn your square punches into birthday presents for a quick, fun, birthday card.

I wanted to keep a masculine theme for the card, so I punched and used the side of Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper that did not have a floral theme.  To make the ribbon and bows for the presents I used pieces of 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.  For further embellishment, I embossed my Very Vanilla cardstock layer with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder.  I love when my punches can be used so many different ways.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Summer Starfruit #126839, Very Vanilla #101650
Designer Series Paper:  Comfort Cafe #126898
Ink:  Summer Starfruit #126991
Stamp Set:  Petite Pairs #122495 wood or #122497 clear
Ribbon:  Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta #119959, Very Vanilla 1/8" Taffeta #119960
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Houndstooth Embossing Folder #123134
Adhesive:  Snail #104332, Dimensionals #104430

Betsy's Blossoms Thank You

I used some pretty Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper and the bird from the Betsy's Blossoms Stamp Set to get the look I wanted for a special Thank You card.  I love all of the pretty colors in this paper, and once again, the coordination of stamps, ink, paper, and punches makes creating with Stampin' Up! products so easy and so much fun.

My card base is Whisper White cardstock, and I added a layer of Rich Razzleberry cardstock, and then a piece of Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.  The two layers shown come from one piece of the paper.  Another great thing with the Designer Series Paper is that it is double-sided so you get so many choices.  I then added a piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon before I added my stamped bird.  I layered the bird onto two stems that were punched using the Bird Builder Punch.  I cut my bird out, and also stamped the wings again so I had contrasting colors and placed this onto my stems and ribbon, and then added my sentiment.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Whisper White #100730, Rich Razzleberry #115316, Lucky Limeade #122926
Designer Series Paper:  Summer Smooches #125409
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry #126950, Lucky Limeade #126984
Ribbon:  Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled #122977
Stamp Sets:  Betsy's Blossoms #126004 wood or #126006 clear, Perfect Punches #117022 wood or #120516 clear
Punches:  Bird Builder #117191, Scallop Oval #119856
Tools:  Paper Snips #103579

White on white wedding card

My niece is getting married in a few weeks so I made this very white wedding card for her.  The picture doesn't really show the white embossing that was used on the large Bettsy's Blossom stamp that is centered in the middle of the card, but it looks really nice in person.

To my  Whisper White card base I added an additional layer of Whisper White that I embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I then tied some Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon onto the layer and adhered it to my card.  Using Versa Mark Ink and White Embossing Powder I then heat embossed my large blossom and placed it in the center using dimensionals.  The only touch of color on the card is my silver embossed wishes.  I like the clean look of a white on white card, and it is just what I wanted for a special wedding card for a very special couple.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Whisper White #100730
Stamp Sets:  Betsy's Blossoms #126004 wood or #16006 clear, Love & Laughter #125475wood or #125477 clear
Ink: Versa Mark 102283
Heat Embossing:  White Embossing Powder #109132, Silver Embossing Powder #109131, Heat Tool #129053
Ribbon: Whisper White 5/8" Organza #114319
Adhesive:  Dimensionals #104430, Snail #104332
Punch:  2 1/2" Circle #120906
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder #120175

Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die Background

I made this sympathy card for my cousin who lost her mother this week.  My aunt was a beautiful woman who lived life to the fullest, and she left us at the age of 87.   She wanted us to cherish her life and all of the memories, and not be sad in her death.  So, I am glad that I can make a handmade card to send my thoughts to my cousin on her mother's passing.

My card base is Summer Starfruit cardstock that I embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  I then used the new Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die to cut out my large oval, using Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper.  Next, I cut and layered a Labels Collection Framelit in Soft Suede and Midnight Muse cardstock, and then stamped my sentiment on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut that out with a smaller Labels Framelit.

It is fun working with all of my new products and love having five new colors to work with too.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Summer Starfruit #126839, Soft Suede #115318, Midnight Muse #126843, Very Vanilla #101650
Designer Series Paper:  Comfort Cafe #126898
Ink:  Midnight Muse #126860
Stamp Set:  Love & Sympathy #122795 wood or #122797
Tools:  Big Shot #113439, Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die #127005, Labels Collection Framelits #125598, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder #120175

Baby Prints

So many of my friends are being blessed with grandchildren, and this card was made to send special wishes to the happy family.

My card base is Bashful Blue cardstock, and I layered this with Early Espresso and Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the baby feet and the sentiment with Crumb Cake Ink, added my little hearts, and then embossed the card front.

I am so glad Stampin' Up! carried the Baby Prints Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog, into the new catalog.  A great set for not only for card making but I can see it being used a lot in scrapbooking too.

The following were used:
Cardstock:  Bashful Blue #105120, Early Espresso #119686, Whisper White #100730
Ink:  Crumb Cake #126975
Stamp Set:  Baby Prints #125470 wood or #125472 clear

Pretty Floral District Designer Series Paper - THE NEW CATALOG IS HERE!

The New Catalog is here, and I think you are going to have so much fun going through it and seeing what is new.  I really love the beautiful Floral District Designer Series Paper, and didn't want to cover up too much of it on my card.

My card base is Lucky Limeade cardstock, followed by a layer of Rich Razzleberry, and then a layer of Floral District Designer Paper.  I love the richness and color of this paper.  I didn't want to cover up too much of the design, so I just added some NEW Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around the layers and then added my For You sentiment which is from the NEW Layered Labels Stamp Set.  This set coordinates with the Large Oval and 1" Circle Punches, and also the Apothecary Accents Framelits Die which I used today to cut out my sentiment.

Note -  You can order from the new catalog at 12 noon mountain time.  Stampin' Up! is transitioning from the old catalog to the new catalog, and it should be appearing on my on-line store and blog soon.
If you do not already have a relationship with a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and would like a hard copy of the catalog, send me an e-mail and I will be happy to get one out to you and all you have to do is pay Priority Mail Shipping of $4.95.
