Easy Gift Giving

My daughter just asked me yesterday if she thought I could make some coasters for her son's teacher for a Thanksgiving basket they are making for her.  I said sure, since they are one of the easiest gifts to make in a short time once you have your necessary supplies.  Luckily I had some tiles on hand so in a few short steps the coasters were finished.

I first started by cleaning the tiles of any dust.  Next I took some Brown Staz On Ink and stamped my images on my tiles.  I then put them in the oven at 350 and baked them for 15 minutes to set the ink.  After they cooled I took an acrylic sealer and sprayed them with three coats.  This is what takes the longest since you need to let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next coat.  I then added some round felt pieces to the bottom so they don't scratch the surface.

The tiles can be found in any hardware store and I usually buy them in bulk to get a better price.  I also do coasters using Designer Series Paper, and for those coasters I get the flat white tiles.  You don't need to bake those tiles, instead I used Mod Podge over my paper (2 coats), and then spray on the same acrylic sealer.  If you have any questions about making some on your own just leave me a comment or send an e-mail.

Stampin' Up! product used was the For All Things Stamp Set #135152 w or #135155 c
