Wish Big!

If this card looks familiar, it might be that you remember the card I posted on August 25th titled Punch Potpourri.  Because I already had a few of the layers already cut when I did this as one of my make and takes at a workshop, I just needed to change it up a little big to make a different card.

The only difference on this card is the top sentiment is new, and I didn't use all of the punches as I did in the prior post.  I find that if I like a layout, it doesn't take as long to come up with another design for a card.

For The Newlyweds

Two Tags Bigz Die is for so much more than gift tags.  By getting a little creative, you can add it to the front of your card to add an extra hidden sentiment.  This sentiment was punched using the Decorative Label Punch which is from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Holiday Mini Catalog items will be available for order starting September 1st through January 3rd. 

I started with a base of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Next, I used Crumb Cake cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Elegant Lines embossing folder. I like this folder for giving your layers a really elegant look. My next layer of Very Vanilla was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder for added dimension.  The large tag from the Two Tags Bigz Die was used to add the hidden sentiment, which I embellished with two hearts from the Heart to Heart punch.  Extra embellishments used were a neutral brad, a rhinestone jewel to add sparkle to the ring, and a Bitty Button covered the flower punched with the Flower Itty Bitty Punch.  For the top of the card I punched two strips with the new Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.

Quick Mini Gifts!

I love making cute treats to add to gifts or to give out for special occasions.  With the use of my Big Shot Machine, some punches, ink, stamps and candy of course, I was able to make some really quick, but cute candy treats.  I saw several other talented SU demonstrators make these bags, and everyone has such great ideas and I just wanted to share my version with you.

Just think of all of the possibilities.  For Christmas add a Christmas stamp, some red and green candy.  For a baby shower, pink or blue mints, a cute baby stamp.   I used Sticky Strip to adhere the Die Cut flowers and Pumpkin to the bag (bags from clearbags.com).   Stampin' Up also offers clear Cellophane Bags in 3 sizes that are also great for treats, favors, and gifts.  Sizes are 3" x 5", 4" x 6", or 6" x 8".  So when you are looking to fill a larger gift bag, these work great too!

Happy Anniversary

For today's card I first cut the Daisy Flower using my Big Shot Machine and Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die.  This large flower cut with a sheet of Designer Series Paper from the Love Letter pack looks great against the black background. You can't see it really well in the photo, but I also ran the black matte layer through my big shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The brad was selected from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit.  Victoria Crochet Trim was attached to the layer and I decided to put my sentiment right on the trim.  This crochet trim is so soft and ties really easy and gives your card a nice vintage look.  Just another great new product in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog.

My Stamping Timesaver:  When I receive a pack of Designer Series Paper, I always write on the white cardboard sheet that comes with the paper, the names of the cardstock that coordinate with the paper.  Example - The Love Letter Designer Series Paper coordinates with Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla.  This way when I grab a sheet of the paper I already know what cardstock it coordinates with, making it easier for me to select layers for my project.  These colors are listed under the name of the Designer Series Paper in the Idea Book and Catalog.

Ladybug Birthday Card

When I saw the cute ladybug card made by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Kelly Bingham I had to try my own.  Thanks Kelly for the great idea!

To start I cut two scallop circles using the Scallop Circle Bigz Die.  Next, using Whisper White cardstock I cut a 3 1/2" circle with my Circle Scissors Plus.  This tool allows you to cut just the right size circle for all of your projects.  I attached this layer to one of the scallop circles and stamped my Happy Birthday.  The other scallop circle was cut in half and two black brads keep it in place and allow you to open the card.  The head was made with the 1 3/4" circle punch and the ladybug circles were cut with the 1/2" circle punch and a hole punch.  I also used my hole punch for the eyes and a black marker created the small dot in the center.

Just Believe in Watercolor

As you can see, I really like this stamp set, and am having fun trying different techniques and layouts.  Today I wanted to try some watercoloring for a different look. 

I apologize for the dark background, it does make it a little big harder to see the card, but was having camera troubles today.

I started with a card bask of Night of Navy.  I stamped my image using StazOn Black ink on watercolor paper.  This paper is 100% cotton, cold pressed and sized perfectly to layer on your card fronts at 3 3/4" x 5".   To color in the image I used the Aqua Painter and Night of Navy and Old Olive ink.  I layered this on a torn piece of Bashful Blue cardstock, and edged with Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

Watercoloring Tips:    Stamp your image on watercolor paper using Staz on Ink.  Now, you can fill in your image with  markers and then use your Aqua Painter to blend the colors.  Or you can take a closed ink pad, press down on the top to get some of the ink to form a small puddle in the lid, open it up and dip the tip of your Aqua Painter into the ink to draw up some of the color and color it right onto your image.  That is the technique I used for today's card to add just a touch of color.  If you would like more information on this or any of the techniques, cards, or projects listed in my blog, send me an e-mail or leave a comment.  I will be glad to assist you in any way I can.
