Wish Big!

If this card looks familiar, it might be that you remember the card I posted on August 25th titled Punch Potpourri.  Because I already had a few of the layers already cut when I did this as one of my make and takes at a workshop, I just needed to change it up a little big to make a different card.

The only difference on this card is the top sentiment is new, and I didn't use all of the punches as I did in the prior post.  I find that if I like a layout, it doesn't take as long to come up with another design for a card.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Crumb Cake #120953, Very Vanilla #100730, Basic Black #121045
Designer Series Paper:  Brights Paper Stack #117155
Stamp Set:  Punch Potpourri #118394 wood mount or #120124 clear mount (Hostess Level 1), Word Play #120308 wood mount or #120651 clear mount
Punches:  Decorative Label #120907 (Holiday Mini), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309
Ribbon:  Daffodil Delight 1/4" Grosgrain #120928
Ink:  Basic Black #101179
Marker:  Basic Black #100082
Embellishment:  Bitty Buttons #118761, Dimensionals #104430
Accessories:  Color Spritzer #107066

For The Newlyweds

Two Tags Bigz Die is for so much more than gift tags.  By getting a little creative, you can add it to the front of your card to add an extra hidden sentiment.  This sentiment was punched using the Decorative Label Punch which is from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Holiday Mini Catalog items will be available for order starting September 1st through January 3rd.

I started with a base of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Next, I used Crumb Cake cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Elegant Lines embossing folder. I like this folder for giving your layers a really elegant look. My next layer of Very Vanilla was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder for added dimension.  The large tag from the Two Tags Bigz Die was used to add the hidden sentiment, which I embellished with two hearts from the Heart to Heart punch.  Extra embellishments used were a neutral brad, a rhinestone jewel to add sparkle to the ring, and a Bitty Button covered the flower punched with the Flower Itty Bitty Punch.  For the top of the card I punched two strips with the new Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla #101650, Baja Breeze #111352, Early Espresso #119686
Designer Series Paper:  Elegant Soiree #117163
Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370, Word Play #120308 wood mount or #120651 clear mount
Ink:  Early Espresso #119670
Punches:  Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border #119275, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309, Heart to Heart #119881, Decorative Label #120907 (Holiday Mini)
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439. Two Tags Bigz Die #115954, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder #119277, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117335

Quick Mini Gifts!

I love making cute treats to add to gifts or to give out for special occasions.  With the use of my Big Shot Machine, some punches, ink, stamps and candy of course, I was able to make some really quick, but cute candy treats.  I saw several other talented SU demonstrators make these bags, and everyone has such great ideas and I just wanted to share my version with you.

Just think of all of the possibilities.  For Christmas add a Christmas stamp, some red and green candy.  For a baby shower, pink or blue mints, a cute baby stamp.   I used Sticky Strip to adhere the Die Cut flowers and Pumpkin to the bag (bags from clearbags.com).   Stampin' Up also offers clear Cellophane Bags in 3 sizes that are also great for treats, favors, and gifts.  Sizes are 3" x 5", 4" x 6", or 6" x 8".  So when you are looking to fill a larger gift bag, these work great too!

To make the gift bags I used the following:
Cardstock:  Basic Black #121045, Very Vanilla #101650, Chocolate Chip #102128, Pumpkin Pie #105117, Real Red #102482, Pear Pizzazz #119795, Brocade Blue (retired)
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie #105216, Real Red #103133, Brocade Blue (retired)
Markers:  Chocolate Chip #100071, Pear Pizzazz #119801 (In Colors Marker Pack)
Punches:  Scallop Circle #119854, 1 3/8" Circle #119873, Scallop Oval #119856
Stamp Sets:  Sincere Salutations #115068, Grateful Greetings #116511, Sock Monkey Accessories #111552
Ribbon:  Hemp Twine #100982
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die #114520, Flower Folds Bigz xl Die #115970, Extended Cutting Pads #113478 (needed when cutting a Bigz xl Die), Sticky Strip #104294

Happy Anniversary

For today's card I first cut the Daisy Flower using my Big Shot Machine and Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die.  This large flower cut with a sheet of Designer Series Paper from the Love Letter pack looks great against the black background. You can't see it really well in the photo, but I also ran the black matte layer through my big shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The brad was selected from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit.  Victoria Crochet Trim was attached to the layer and I decided to put my sentiment right on the trim.  This crochet trim is so soft and ties really easy and gives your card a nice vintage look.  Just another great new product in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla #101650, Basic Black #121045
Designer Series Paper:  Love Letter #117162
Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370
Ink:  Basic Black #101179
Embellishment:  Hodgepodge Hardware Silver #111325
Ribbon:  Victoria Crochet Trim #118481
Punch:  Word Window #119857
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder #117335, Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die #114520

My Stamping Timesaver:  When I receive a pack of Designer Series Paper, I always write on the white cardboard sheet that comes with the paper, the names of the cardstock that coordinate with the paper.  Example - The Love Letter Designer Series Paper coordinates with Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla.  This way when I grab a sheet of the paper I already know what cardstock it coordinates with, making it easier for me to select layers for my project.  These colors are listed under the name of the Designer Series Paper in the Idea Book and Catalog.

Ladybug Birthday Card

When I saw the cute ladybug card made by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Kelly Bingham I had to try my own.  Thanks Kelly for the great idea!

To start I cut two scallop circles using the Scallop Circle Bigz Die.  Next, using Whisper White cardstock I cut a 3 1/2" circle with my Circle Scissors Plus.  This tool allows you to cut just the right size circle for all of your projects.  I attached this layer to one of the scallop circles and stamped my Happy Birthday.  The other scallop circle was cut in half and two black brads keep it in place and allow you to open the card.  The head was made with the 1 3/4" circle punch and the ladybug circles were cut with the 1/2" circle punch and a hole punch.  I also used my hole punch for the eyes and a black marker created the small dot in the center.

To make this card I used the following:
Cardstock:   Real Red #102482, Basic Black #121045, Whisper White #100730
Stamp Set:  Perfect Punches #117022 wood mount or 120516 clear mount
Marker:  Basic Black #100082
Ink: Real Red #103133
Punches:  1 3/4" Circle #119850, 1/2" Circle #119869, Hole Punch
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Scallop Circle Bigz Die #113468, Circle Scissors Plus #112530, Glass Mat #112531, 2-Way Glue Pen #100425
Embellishment:  Neutral Brad #119736

Just Believe in Watercolor

As you can see, I really like this stamp set, and am having fun trying different techniques and layouts.  Today I wanted to try some watercoloring for a different look.

I apologize for the dark background, it does make it a little big harder to see the card, but was having camera troubles today.

I started with a card bask of Night of Navy.  I stamped my image using StazOn Black ink on watercolor paper.  This paper is 100% cotton, cold pressed and sized perfectly to layer on your card fronts at 3 3/4" x 5".   To color in the image I used the Aqua Painter and Night of Navy and Old Olive ink.  I layered this on a torn piece of Bashful Blue cardstock, and edged with Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

For today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Night of Navy #100867, Bashful Blue #105120, Watercolor Paper #105109
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn #101406, Old Olive #102277, Night of Navy #102977
Stamp Set:  Just Believe #116948 wood mount or 120453 clear mount
Ribbon:  5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain #109054
Accessories:  Aqua Painter #103954

Watercoloring Tips:    Stamp your image on watercolor paper using Staz on Ink.  Now, you can fill in your image with  markers and then use your Aqua Painter to blend the colors.  Or you can take a closed ink pad, press down on the top to get some of the ink to form a small puddle in the lid, open it up and dip the tip of your Aqua Painter into the ink to draw up some of the color and color it right onto your image.  That is the technique I used for today's card to add just a touch of color.  If you would like more information on this or any of the techniques, cards, or projects listed in my blog, send me an e-mail or leave a comment.  I will be glad to assist you in any way I can.

Just Believe

I think I finally have my favorite stamp set.  I love everything about the Just Believe stamp set, and this is just one of the many cards I have already made using this versatile set.

I paired Rich Razzleberry cardstock which I embossed using the Elegant Lines embossing folder, with just a touch of Basic Gray punched with the Eyelet Border Punch and Whisper White cardstock for my matte.  I love the richness of these colors together, and the great stamp set really makes this one of my favorite cards as well.  Using Rich Razzleberry ink I stamped the large image, rounded the corners, tied a piece of Rich Razzleberry taffeta ribbon and added my eyelet border strip.  If you look closely at the saying you can see I used Pretty in Pink ink to first stamp the stemmed flower image before stamping my saying.  It adds just a little extra touch.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Rich Razzleberry #115316, Basic Gray #121044, Whisper White #100730
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry #115658, Pretty in Pink #101301
Ribbon:  Rich Razzleberry 3/8" Taffeta #119966
Punches:  Eyelet Border #119853, Small Corner #119871
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder #119277, Dimensionals #104430

Masking Technique

Instead of stamping the flowers one on top of another, I wanted to use the "Masking Technique" to give the card a more dimensional look.

To make today's card, I punched the flower on a piece of scrap cardstock, cut it out, and used it as my "Mask".  Now I had my template ready to go.  Next I took a piece of  5 x 9 Whisper White cardstock, folded it in half and ran it through my Big Shot using the Scallop Circle Big Die.  Because I wanted this to be my card base, when laying the folded piece of paper on my die I left the top four scallops exposed before cutting so I would have the crease at the top where my card would fold.  Using Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzazz Ink, I alternated stamping the flower.  If you look at the top right corner of the card you will see the full flower stamped in Pear Pizzazz.  I then used my "Mask" and laid it over that flower so when I stamped the next flower in Tempting Turquoise it gives it a layered look.  I kept doing this all the way around
until I reached the beginning (the first flower stamped in Pear Pizzazz).

First stamped image
My  mask, layered on top of the first stamped flower.
The "Mask" keeps the ink from stamping on top of the first flower.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Whisper White #100730
Ink:  Tempting Turquoise #100814, Pear Pizzazz #119784
Stamp Set:  Fifth Avenue Floral #113734, Occasional Quotes #117048 wood mount or #120142 clear mount (Level 3 Hostess)
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Scallop Circle Bigz Die #113468

My Stamping Timesaver:  I save all of my "Mask" templates with the stamp set I used to create it.  When I want to repeat the technique I already have my template on hand.  I also use a darker color of cardstock for my "Mask" so it stands out when I lay it on top of the first stamped image.

White Simplicity

Sometimes less is better.  I don't always want to add a lot of layers and embellishments to my card, instead  I just want the sentiment and stamp to say it all.

To create the template on the "Just For You" card I punched a hole in a piece of scrap cardstock with the 1 3/8" circle punch.  Next, I sponged So Saffron and Early Espresso ink into the opening created by the punch, then stamped the flower.  For the "Thank You" card I cut a 3" circle using my Circle Scissors Plus and followed the same steps listed above.  This technique creates a really nice background to silhouette your stamp and sentiment.

For today's cards I used the following:
Cardstock:  Whisper White #100730
Ink:  Early Espresso #119670, So Saffron #105213
Stamp Set:  Just  Believe #116948 wood mount or #120453 clear mount
Punches:  1 3/8" Circle #119860, Word Window #119857
Ribbon:  Daffodil Delight 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain #119770
Accessories:  Circle Scissors Plus #112530, Glass Mat #112531, Sponges #101610, Dimensionals #104430

Stamping Tip:  Save the templates you created for future use.  Also, make sure the template is cut on a piece of scrap cardstock large enough so that when you are sponging your ink the ink will only show where you want it to go.  I hope that makes sense!  If you have any questions leave a comment, or send me an e-mail.

For the Newlyweds

Thanks to Mary Fish a very talented Stampin' Up! demonstrator for the inspiration for today's card.

I started the card with a base of Whisper White and layered it with Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz cardstock. .  For the sentiment, I first punched the opening with an oval punch and then used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get perfect placement.  When you are stamping an image that needs to go in a specific place, the Stamp-a-ma-jig is a wonderful tool that has saved me a lot of time and frustration.  It lets you know exactly where your image will be placed saving you from making mistakes.  If you have any questions on how to use this tool or any other product, please send me an e-mail or post a comment and I will be happy to get back to you with further instructions.

For today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:   Whisper White #100730, Concord Crush #119792, Pear Pizzazz #119795
Ink:  Concord Crush #119785, Pear Pizzazz #119784
Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370, Elements of Style #118611 wood mount or #120045 clear mount
Ribbon:  5/8" Whisper White Organza #114319
Punches:   1 3/4" Oval #119855, Small Heart #117193
Accessories:  Stamp-a-ma-jig #101049

Hoot, Hoot!

Stampin' Up! keeps on coming up with some really cute punches.  I used the Two-Step Owl Extra Large punch, and 2 3/8" Extra-Large Scallop Circle punch for today's card.

I used Blushing Bride for my card base.  I wanted the matte layer of Crumb Cake to have a grainy look so I ran it through my Big Shot and used one of the #4 Texture Plates.  I sponged a little bit of Early Espresso ink to this layer also, to bring out the impression. The owl is sitting on Little Leaves (a sizzlits die), and the pink flowers were punched from Itty Bitty Shapes punch.

To make today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Blushing Bride #119796, Crumb Cake #120953, Early Espresso #119686, Old Olive #100702
Ink:  Early Espresso #119670
Ribbon:  Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain #109054
Punches:  Two Step Owl #118074, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309, 2 3/8" Extra-Large Scallop Circle #118874
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine #113439, Little Leaves Sizzlits Die #114511, Texture Plates Kit #4 #114531, Dimensionals #104430, Sponges #101610
Embellishment:  uni-ball Signo Gel Pen #105021

My Stamping Time Saver - If you notice I did not put a sentiment on the card.  When I have extra time I make several cards and leave them blank.  Then, when I have an event coming up I have a selection to choose from that were not made for one specific occasion.  Also, if I really like the card I make two at the same time.  I already have all of the supplies and layout handy and it saves time in the long run.

Shadow Box

This was my first try at making a shadow box using my Stampin' Up! punches, stamp sets, paper, and embellishments.  Another fun way to use your Stampin' Up! products!

I first started by purchasing the frame.  I started with something small and inexpensive - I got the frame for $1.00 at the Dollar Store.  I figured that this way if I didn't like it I really didn't spend a lot of money.  Next I took some punches and paper and just started laying things out on the frame. In a matter of minutes I had a completed project.  I was pleased with the results, and am looking forward to making more.

For today's project I used the following:
Cardstock:  Marina Mist #119682, Very Vanilla #101650,  Lavendar Lace (retired)
Designer Series Paper:  Greenhouse Gala #117167
Ink:  Marina Mist #119668, Early Espresso #119770, Pear Pizzazz #119784
Ribbon:  Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched Poly #119265
Stamp Sets:  Occasional Quotes #117048 wood mount or #120142 clear mount (Hostess Level #), Just Believe #116948 wood mount or 120453 clear mount
Punches:  Extra Large Oval #119859, Full Heart #119883, Butterfly #119848, Two-Step Bird #117191, 5-Petal Flower #119880, Scallop Circle #119854, BoHo Blossoms #119858, Scallop Square #119884, 1 1/4" Circle #119861, Heart to Heart #119881, Eyelet Border #119853

Accessories:  Crimper #101618, Bone Folder #102300 (both used to make the flower in the lower right hand corner), Two Way Glue Pen #100425, Glue Dots #103683

So remember - Stampin' Up! products are not just for making cards or scrapbooking.  Experiment with your products and have fun trying new things, and sharing your ideas with others.  If you would like to order any of the products used to make the Shadow Box or any of the projects listed in my post, just click the on line order link and have fun creating!

Prewedding Ensemble

I was recently asked to make Save the Dates for a friend's sons upcoming wedding.  The color scheme is going to be Ivory and Black, so using Very Vanilla and Basic Black cardstock I was able to match the colors when I made the Save the Dates and coordinating Thank You cards.

My Big Shot Machine and the Manhattan Flower embossing folder were used to create the design on the black backing of the Save the Date, and on the card front for the Thank You.  The embossed flower is from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set, and coordinates well with the Manhattan Flower folder.  The printing on the Save the Date was done on my computer.  Very Vanilla envelopes were used for the mailing.

To make the ensemble I used the following:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla #101650, Basic Black #12105
Stamp Set:  Fifth Avenue Floral #113734, Fresh Cuts #111634 (for the Thank You)
Punch: Modern Label #119849
Ink:  Versa Mark #102283
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine ##113439, Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder #114517, Black Embossing Powder #109133, Dimensionals #104430, Very Vanilla Medium Envelopes #107300

For The Newlyweds II

Well, I looked at the card several times yesterday and decided to add color to all of the flowers.  I thought I needed it against the white background.  I did, however, only add the Crystal Effects to the top left flower. So here is the finished card.

My Stamping Tip:
Don't be afraid to experiment - you can always add more color, a ribbon, or some type of embellishment if you are not happy with your finished project.  I find that if I don't add too much at first, there is always room to add it later.

For the Newlyweds

So many weddings to attend, so many wedding cards to make.  I'm still not sure if I am going to color the rest of the flowers on the card.  I think I will leave it like this for now, but I might change my mind later after looking at it for awhile.  Let me know what you would do.

For today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Blushing Bride #119796, Whisper White #100730, Early Espresso #119686
Stamp Sets:  Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370, Fifth Avenue Floral #113734
Marker:  Blushing Bride #119801 (In-Color Marker Pack)
Punch:  Photo Corners #119878
Ribbon: Whisper White 5/8" Satin #114616
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine #113439, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder #120175
Embellishment:  Crystal Effects #101055

Happy I Do Day II

I wanted to dress up yesterday's card so I added some Basic Pearls #119247.
Pearls come in 150 pieces, 3 sizes, 50 of each size. I used some of each size in the card.  What an easy way to dress up any project.

Happy I Do Day

I love the new embossing folder Elegant Lines.  It creates such a beautiful pattern on your cardstock that you don't have to add much more to your card.  Simple and yet elegant, I know I will be using this on a lot of my cards.

For the card I started with a card base of So Saffron and layered it with Basic Gray and Whisper White.  Whisper White 5/8" organza ribbon is one of my favorite ribbons to use for wedding cards, and I tied this around my two layers, and attached the sentiment with a fine piece of white thread.

Stamping Tip:  If you wanted to add more color and dimension to this card you could take a sponge and go over the raised embossed images.  The raised images would pick up your color while leaving the rest of the layer white.  I liked the clean look of all white for this card, so I decided to leave it plain, but the embossing folders give you so many options for adding color and dimension.

I think I will go ahead and add some pearls to the circles in the image.  I will post that look tomorrow!

For today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  So Saffron #105118, Basic Gray #121044, Whisper White #100730
Ink:  Basic Gray #109120
Stamp Set:  Word Play #120308 wood mount or #120651 clear mount
Embellishment:  Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon #114319
Punch:  1 3/4" Circle #119850
Accessories:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder #119277

Vintage Thanks

If you are looking for an elegant stamp that can be used for multiple occasions, Elizabeth is the stamp for you.  Now notice I did not say stamp set.  The Elizabeth stamp is sold a' la carte.  It is just one of the great individual stamps you can choose from in the Idea Book & Catalog.

For today's card I stamped the Elizabeth stamp in Early Espresso and added the thank you from the Because I Care hostess stamp set.  To add a more vintage look to the card I took a Pear Pizzazz marker and my Color Spritzer Tool to mist the layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock.  It looks really nice in person, but doesn't show up as well in my photo. Pear Pizzazz ribbon was tied to the right side for added dimension, and when I stepped back to look at the finished card I thought the left side looked a little empty.  So I took a small torn strip or Early Espresso cardstock and added it on the left side.

Stamping Tip: Ok, I know that I should know this already because I have been stamping for many years, but I can't believe I just discovered that the markers have a bold line on one side, and a thinner line on the other side.  The bold line is for the thicker tip, the thin line for the thin tip.  So many times I was looking to use the thicker tip and it always seemed that I opened up the wrong side of the marker.  Just goes to show that there is always something new to learn!

For today's card I used the following:
Cardstock:  Pear Pizzazz #119795, Very Vanilla # 101650, Early Espresso #119686
Ink:  Early Espresso #119670
Marker:  Pear Pizzazz #119801 (in-color set)
Stamp Sets:  Elizabeth #117120, Because I Care #118685 wood or #118673 clear
Ribbon:  Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched Poly #119265
Accessories:  Color Spritzer Tool #107066

Thank You Gift Set

Need a small present in a hurry, make a group of cards with a coordinating holder and you have a nice
gift set ready to go.  I always try to keep some on hand because you never know when you might need them.

I used all of the new In-Colors to make this gift set. For the cards I embossed the top layer, sprayed it with some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz (hard to see in the pictures), and added the coordinating ribbon. The holder was made with a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 Peach Parfait cardstock cut down to 6 1/2 x 11 and scored on the bottom to create a base, and then punched on top for the ribbon. The cards while simple, are still pretty, and would be perfect for a man or a woman.  Gift sets are also really nice to give to a bride to be, a new mother, or anyone you know who will need to send out a lot of cards for a particular occasion.  Change the sentiment to fit the event, use the person's favorite color or design, and you have a gift that will be put to good use.
